Over the weekend I volunteered to give massages at the Relay for Life event in Presteigne, along with some fellow massage therapists. Our little tent raised £250, but the overall event has raised £28,000 (and counting) for Cancer Research UK.
I hadn’t heard of the Relay for Life before, but I have to say it looks like it would be amazing to take part in it. It starts off with a survivors lap; the people who have beaten cancer take a walk around the track together. It was certainly an emotional start. And then teams take it turns to walk around the track for the whole 24 hours.
It was a great feeling to think that not only did we raise a little extra money for the cause, but also helped those taking part.
Cancer has touched so many people’s lives and we all have our own stories to tell. Hopefully with events like this more of our stories will have happy endings.
