As I’m sure your aware, from Monday 19th July the legal requirements to wear face masks will be removed and the onus will be upon personal responsibility for ongoing protection.
The GCMT, and my professional association MTI, are not recommending any changes to its current recommendations.
As a therapist I have a professional, legal and moral duty to protect the public and treat my clients safely and the failure to do so can result in prosecution and/or invalid insurance.
Therefore I shall be continuing to wear a face mask and visor during appointments.
The Massage Training Institute (MTI) have updated their logo, and I shall also be updating all of my advertising with the new logo… what do you think?
Yesterday was the 29th annual MTI massage conference, this year it was held in Solihull.
It’s a great chance to meet old and new friends and a great way to learn new techniques, get some inspiration and to see new products available.
This year I attended 2 workshops. The first was to learn about muscle testing for the lower back. This workshop introduced some Amatsu Therapy techniques and I found these to be very effective, it’s definitely something I will be looking into.
The second workshop I attended was about marketing my massage practice, I got some good ideas about choosing a target audience and how to tailor my marketing to attract them.
I also got to meet and chat with the chief executive of the Complementary & Natural Healthcare Council, a very lovely lady, who says that there are exciting things ahead for massage therapy.
It’s always a lovely day at the conference and I came away feeling even more excited and passionate about massage. And, as always, I got a lovely certificate at the end of the day!
I have renewed my membership with the MTI for another year! For further information on the Massage Training Institute please see their website: http://www.massagetraining.co.uk
On Saturday I attended the annual MTI conference. This year it was held at Cardiff University!
The day was opened by Darien Pritchard giving a key note speech about self care; we need to look after ourselves before we can look after others!
I then attended two myofascial release workshops. The first was regarding techniques to work with people who suffer with headaches (including migraines) and the second was for foot and ankle issues (including plantar fasciitis).
It was a very interesting and useful day and now I have even more techniques that I can integrate into a massage session.
